Palazzo Tobia Pallavicino
Palazzo Tobia Pallavicino, which today houses the Chamber of Commerce, was built between 1558 and 1561 by the Marquis Tobia Pallavicino, a Genoese patrician trader who had bought the land, for the sum of 14,520 Genoese liras, under that which was the most important urban development of the sixteenth century in Genoa: the cutting of Strada Nuova, the current Via Garibaldi. The palace, built under the direction of the architect Giambattista Castello known as il Bergamasco, originally included a two-storey cubic block and a back garden, overlooking Piazza del Ferro.
